A dull complexion, fine lines, or pigmentation issues? Often, the skin just needs the right impulse to regenerate and protect itself from environmental influences. Modern cosmetics rely on two stars: Vitamin C for the glow and Bakuchiol as a gentle, plant-based alternative to retinol.
In this guide, we show you how to incorporate these active ingredients into your daily ritual – for skin that not only is healthy but looks it, too.
The Radiance Equation: Protection meets Renewal
Scientifically, we achieve the best glow by minimising oxidative stress and promoting cell renewal:
Level 1: The Kitchen Alternative – The Citrus Glow Water
A simple way to gently invigorate the skin from the outside and clear the pores.
The Recipe: Mix the juice of half an organic orange with 100 ml of distilled water (or cooled green tea).
Effect: The natural fruit acids act as a gentle micro-peel, while the Vitamin C from the orange slightly brightens the skin surface.
Application: Soak a cotton pad and sweep it over the face after cleansing. Leave on for 5 minutes and rinse with cold water.
Level 2: Luxe DIY – The Brightening Aloe Mask
Elevate your routine with a mask that hydrates and balances the complexion simultaneously.
The Instructions: Mix 2 tbsp of Aloe Vera Gelly (Art. 061) * with a drop of fresh lemon juice and a pinch of turmeric.
Why it works: The Gelly cools and hydrates deeply, while turmeric and lemon work synergistically against redness and shadows.
Result: A calmed, significantly fresher look after just 15 minutes of application.
Level 3: Professional Upgrade – The Vitamin C & Bakuchiol Duo
The gold standard solution for maximum anti-ageing results and a long-lasting glow.
The Day: Use Forever Vitamin C™ Nourishing Facial Milk * in the morning. The 6% Vitamin C formula is highly stable and protects your skin all day long from free radicals.
The Night: Use Forever Bakuchiol™ Nourishing Facial Milk * in the evening. Bakuchiol supports skin renewal and reduces wrinkles without irritating the skin (as is often the case with retinol).
The Result: A refined skin texture, reduced dark spots, and firmness you can see and feel.
FAQ – Your Expert Knowledge on the Topic of Glow
Why is Vitamin C so important for my skin?
Vitamin C is one of the most powerful antioxidants we know. It neutralises free radicals caused by UV radiation and air pollution, which cause the skin to age prematurely. It is also essential for the body’s own collagen production. Without sufficient Vitamin C, the connective tissue loses its stability. In a well-formulated skincare product, it also ensures that dark spots (hyperpigmentation) are gently lightened, making the overall complexion appear more even and vibrant.
What is the benefit of Bakuchiol over Retinol?
While retinol is effective, it often leads to skin irritation, redness, or extreme dryness – and it makes the skin photosensitive. Bakuchiol is an extract from the Babchi plant and works almost identically: it stimulates collagen synthesis and refines the skin texture. However, the big advantage is its tolerability. Bakuchiol is gentle, anti-inflammatory, and (unlike retinol) can usually be used without problems on sensitive skin and even during pregnancy.
Can I mix Vitamin C and Bakuchiol in one routine?
Absolutely, they actually complement each other perfectly! A proven strategy is to use Vitamin C in the morning to arm the skin like a shield against environmental factors. Bakuchiol unfolds its regenerating power best overnight when the cell division rate is at its highest. When both ingredients are combined, the skin is both protected from breakdown and actively supported in building new structures. Just ensure the textures are light enough to be absorbed well.
How long until I see results on dark spots?
Patience is key in skincare. While the “glow effect” from better hydration is often visible after just a few days, lightening dark spots takes time. The skin needs about 28 days for a complete renewal cycle. With consistent use of Vitamin C and Bakuchiol, you will notice the first significant changes in skin tone after about 4 to 8 weeks. Consistency is vital, along with daily sunscreen to prevent new discolouration from forming.
Do I still need sunscreen despite using Vitamin C?
A definitive yes! While Vitamin C protects against oxidative damage, it does not replace a UV filter. In fact, Vitamin C can even enhance the effect of your sunscreen by capturing the damage that gets into the skin despite the filter. If you are trying to lighten dark spots or maintain your glow, skipping sun protection would be counterproductive, as UV rays instantly stimulate melanin production again, nullifying the glow effect.
